VINTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 28, 2021
A special meeting of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 28th day of April, 2021 at 7:00pm in the City Hall Council Chambers. Mayor Pro Tem Stark called the meeting to order with the following council members answering roll call: Present – Elwick, Gates, Hessenius, Stark. Absent – Edwards & Parr.
Motion by Elwick, second by Gates to approve the agenda as presented. Question: Ayes – All. The Mayor Pro Tem declared the motion carried.
Mayor Pro Tem Stark declared now was the time and place for the public hearing related to the Rehabilitate Runway 9/27 improvement project at the Vinton Veterans Memorial Airport.
Joe Roenfeldt, Engineer from Clapsaddle-Garber Associates, shared six bids were received for the patching project on the runway. The low bid was from Eastern Iowa Excavating and was under the engineer’s estimate.
As a result of the American Rescue Act, the City of Vinton will not be responsible for 10% of the project cost as originally budgeted. The City of Vinton will have to pay the invoices initially but will be reimbursed for 100% of the project costs.
With no other public comments, Stark closed the public hearing.
Mayor Maynard joined the meeting.
Motion by Gates, second by Stark to approve a resolution approving plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for the construction of Rehabilitate Runway 9/27 improvements at the Vinton Veterans Memorial Airport. Question: Ayes – Elwick, Gates, Hessenius, Stark. Nays – None. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Motion by Hessenius, second by Stark to approve a resolution accepting the bid and authorizing the award of the contract for the Rehabilitate Runway 9/27 improvement at the Vinton Veterans Memorial Airport. Question: Ayes – Elwick, Gates, Hessenius, Stark. Nays – None. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
With no other business before the council, motion by Elwick, second by Hessenius to adjourn. Question: Ayes – All. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Time: 7:15pm.
