PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING
JANUARY 25, 2024
A public safety committee meeting of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 25th day of January 2024 at 6:00pm in City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. The following committee members were present: Elwick, Hessenius and Parmater. Garrett Wittmer, Transportation Director and Colin Carolus, Grounds Director, both representing the Vinton Shellsburg School District were present also.
Traffic control along East 13th Street was discussed. The district is requesting the stop signs at 13th Street and 4th Avenue and 13th Street and 6th Avenue be in effect during the entire school day, not just at school arrival and dismissal. The district is also requesting several no parking zones along East 13th Street near the crosswalks.
The Committee was amicable to the requests and asked that an ordinance be drafted to reflect such.

A public safety committee meeting of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 25th day of January 2024 at 6:30pm in City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. The following committee members were present: Hessenius, Gates and Parmater.
The Committee discussed the current ordinance related to snow removal and on-street parking. The goal is to better remind residents to move their cars from the streets during a snow event. The committee wishes to present an ordinance similar to the City of Monticello.
