The City of Vinton is looking to hire a Utility Billing Clerk that would be responsible for clerical and accounting work related to municipal utilities for the City of Vinton. This position is responsible for assisting with maintenance of the city’s utility billing records and accounts, cash receipting and customer services. Provides back up to the City Clerk/Treasurer as needed. The Utility Billing Clerk is responsible for utility billing processing including bills, payments and adjustments as needed. This position also handles accounts payable for multiple city departments. The Utility Billing Clerk will also assist with annual financial preparation and monthly reconciliation. This is a permanent full-time position.
Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of bookkeeping, accounting and/or general office experience. Considerable experience providing customer service. Computer and office skills including e-mail, occasional letter writing, Microsoft office. Accounting and finance experience desired.
