RESOLUTION NO. 04-20-03
A RESOLUTION TO TEMPORARILY WAIVE UTILITY LATE FEES
Whereas, the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a serious threat to the health and safety of the residents of the City of Vinton, Iowa, and
Whereas, the Code of Iowa, section 372.14 grants the Mayor the power to declare an emergency proclamation to protect the health and safety of Vinton citizens, and
Whereas, Vinton Mayor Maynard, on April, 7, 2020, proclaimed a Civil Emergency Declaration in Vinton, and
Whereas, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Vinton residents and businesses financially, and
Whereas, City Council and VMEU Board of Trustees desire to assist Vinton residents and businesses during this virus outbreak, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Vinton and the VMEU Board of Trustees to temporarily waive charging utility late fees and tag fees as set forth by the Vinton Code of Ordinances and the VMEU Service Rules and Rate Schedule for the duration that the State of Iowa recommends sheltering in place or social distancing or the closing of certain businesses.
