Notice that the Vinton City Council intends to fill Council Vacancy by Appointment

Notice is Hereby Given:
That the Council of the City of Vinton, Iowa intends to fill a vacancy of the 4th Ward Council position by appointment at the March 11, 2021 council meeting at 7:00pm held in Council Chambers, Vinton City Hall.
Anyone that lives in the 4th ward that is interested in filling this vacant Council seat may attend the next Council meeting or contact the Mayor or any council member to express their interest.
The electors of the City of Vinton, Iowa, have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by special election.
If within fourteen (14) days after the appointment is made there is filed with the City Clerk of Vinton a petition which requests a special election to fill the vacancy, an appointment to fill said vacancy is temporary and the Council shall call a special election to fill the said vacancy permanently. The number of signatures of eligible electors necessary to file said petition shall be at least two hundred signatures or at least the number of signatures equal to fifteen percent of the voters who voted for candidates for the office at the preceding regular election at which the office was on the ballot, whichever number is fewer.
This notice is given pursuant to the provisions of Section 372.13(2)(a) and 362.3 of the Code of Iowa.
