WORK SESSION
SEPTEMBER 14, 2023
A work session of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 14th day of September 2023 at 6:30pm in City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. The following were present: Elwick, Gates, Hessenius, Parmater, Pflughaupt, Stark & Mayor Maynard; Rich & Nancy Farmer were also present.
The Farmers, 104 Homecoming Court, wish to split off a portion of their backyard and sell to their abutting neighbors. Because the neighbors were recipients of the CDBG homebuyer grant, there were concerns increasing their lot size may jeopardize the already received funds. City Administrator Ward has spoken with the City Attorney and the State of Iowa to research. It has been determined the subdivision is possible, just not at this time. The VGH Farm Trust would have to agree to remove all covenants in the subdivision and the City would need to release the 2nd lien which is the homebuyer grant funds.
No council action was taken.
