WORK SESSION
FEBRUARY 8, 2024
A work session of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 8th day of February 2024 at 6:00pm in City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. The following council members were present: Elwick, Gates (arrived 6:30), Hessenius, Parmater, Pflughaupt & Mayor Maynard.
Ken Kline representing Manatt’s and Engineer Nate Kass were present to discuss the situation of incorrect aggregate used on a portion of West 1st Street. The recommendation from the Iowa DOT is to remove and replace the affected section. Kline asked Council to consider alternatives to the DOT recommendation. Kass will continue to work with the contractor for repair as soon as weather allows in the spring.
Kass also answered questions from the Council regarding Fehr Graham’s proposal for professional services related to the water treatment facility upgrades. Kass reminded Council that the proposal includes work over a period of 3 years. Council would like to see a few fees updated to time and materials rather than a lump sum fee.
