PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING
OCTOBER 11, 2023
A public safety committee meeting of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 11th day of October, 2023 at 5:00pm in City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. The following committee members were present: Hessenius, Elwick & Parmater via phone. Mayor Maynard & Scott Meyer, Street Superintendent were also present.
The hours of the brush dump were reduced earlier this year due to a recent complaint filed with the DNR. Meyer has been in contact recently with a representative from the DNR about ways to expand the hours while remaining compliant. Another concern is contractors bringing a large volume and specifically large tree trunks that make the piles unable to burn in one day.
Meyer is going to follow up with the DNR about coming to Vinton for a meeting. Council member Elwick is going to speak with the contractors about the idea of charging a permit fee to them for their use. Administrator Ward is going to speak with Center Point about their processes and procedures for their brush dump.
Another meeting will be scheduled once Meyer speaks with the DNR.

WORK SESSION
OCTOBER 11, 2023
A work session of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa was held on the 11th day of October 2023 at 7pm in City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. The following were present: Elwick, Hessenius, Pflughaupt, Stark & Mayor Maynard; Jimmy Hobart was also present.
Jimmy provided an update to the council on the current projects in progress. There has been some interest in leasing the former Pub. A request is being made to make some amendments to the Developers Agreement. Discussion was had about which party would be responsible for the cost of drafting the new DA. Jimmy was directed to put together a specific list of requested changes for the council to consider at a future meeting.
No action was taken.
